BET-EU team members from UNINOVA are at the NSF Papertronics Workshop in the U.S.

BET-EU team members from UNINOVA were invited to the “NSF Papertronics Workshop: Paper-based Electronics for the 21st Century” to take place on 12-14 September 2016 in Virginia, U.S. This workshop will bring together research leaders in academia and government labs, along with those in small and large businesses, to discuss the state of the art and potential future directions in paper-based electronics; a key strategic area in the U.S. From Europe, the only representatives will be members from UNINOVA.

Elvira Fortunato and Rodrigo Martins, members of the BET-EU coordination team, are finalists for the European Inventor Award 2016

The invention of paper-based transistors by Portuguese scientist Elvira Fortunato and Rodrigo Martins at the New University of Lisbon offers a cost-saving and energy-efficient alternative to silicon chips. Applications in daily life include biosensors, "smart" product packaging, networked shipping labels and animated billboards.
